Introduction: Skin, a biggest organ in human body consists of seven layers. We may think that the skin is peripheral but it reaches a deeper level in human body. Therefore according to Ayurveda skin diseases should have deep rooted causes. Inappropriate lifestyle, bad habits and wrong diet are few of the prime causes of skin disease. Other causes include intake of excessive food, day-time sleeping, intake of incompatible food combinations, physical exhaustion, low digestive fire. These factors cause imbalance of the doshas leading to various skin diseases. Even following a diet or a lifestyle that is against the season or the prakriti of person results in contaminating the body tissues thus causing various skin disorders.
Diseases: Psoriasis, vitiligo, acne, eczema, dermatitis, dark circles, pigmentation, pimples, dull complexion, dry skin, oily skin, wrinkled skin, etc are some of the skin disease.
Ayurvedic view: Concentrating on removing the root cause of the disease is the way of treatment in Ayurveda. Ayurveda suggests changes in food intake which eliminates the chance of getting doshas imbalanced. It also has methods of removing the harmful toxins from the body and purifying the channels and tissues. It thus rejuvenates the body. Even following regular day-to-day routines and sleep pattern can work like a wonder.
